The Holy Manavalamamunigal was a great seer of Vaishnava cult and the reincarnation of Yadiraja Ramanuja. Mamunigal was honoured by none other than Lord Sri Ranganatha, the Supreme deity of Sri Rangam temple. His contributions in Tamil and Sanskrit have added to the richness of the respective languages and to Vedanta in general. Considered to be the incarnation of the thousand-hooded Adishesha, Mamunigal showers His abundant blessings on all devotees.There is a 150 year old shrine for Him in the holy town of Thiruvahindrapuram run by Manavalamamunigal Sannidhi trust.The shrine enjoys the patronage of thousands of devotees from far and wide. With their devotion and assistance, the Sannidhi is consummate in all respects (including Vahanas, a glass chamber and Car) and a Gopuram.
Every year the Srimat Mamunigal Mahotsavam is celebrated for ten days in the month of tula masa coinciding with his birth star, Mula. The celebration is grand and ceremonial. Religious discourses are arranged on all the ten days. The deity is taken in procession everyday both in the morning as well as in the evening. Thirumanjanam and recital of Vedas and Divya Prabhandha by scholars are regular features on all these days. Hundreds of devotees throng the shrine to be blessed by the Mamunigal. Food and shelter are provided to all of them everyday.
